At Westminster children with special needs are assessed, and if specific needs are identified and extra support or referral to other agencies is required, we work with the family to ensure that support is provided where required.
Programmes and assistance for children with physical, social and learning needs are available in the classroom and through small group tutoring. These programmes enable the children to be fully integrated into the classroom and wider school community.
1. The classroom teacher identifies the student in need of learning support and refers the student to the Special Needs Coordinator. If parents identify the child is in need of learning support, they need to speak to the classroom teacher.
2. An initial parent interview will be arranged, possibly followed by an Individual Education Plan (IEP) where a suitable programme is set up for the child.
